Some big challenges & opportunities

Well it’s been a busy couple of months since I last posted here. I’ve had a few pieces published online since April and I’ve done quite a bit of writing. I have decided to return to my novel. I’d doubled its content in November’s NaNoWriMo and then I wanted to get some experience by doing short stories and flash fiction. That’s been really rewarding and I enjoyed it immensely.

Then Friday happened. I got laid off from my job. I’m trying to treat this as an opportunity. I have the chance to continue my current career path, head of somewhere else entirely or perhaps just shift direction a bit. Since I’ve never been laid off before I’m at a bit of a loss.

The good news is that I expect to have some free time for a while to really throw myself into my fiction. I’m very excited for that and I have several projects in mind.

So keep an eye on this site for more info coming soon!

  1. Holy crap Damon! Just two Fridays ago I finished a training class you taught. You getting laid off speaks volumes about what the state of that company must be (since you didn’t name them, I won’t either). It was an excellent class and I can’t believe they would let you go. I’m very sorry to hear it but I admire the perspective that you’re taking.

As a final touch of irony or maybe just a demonstration of the twisted sense of humor possessed by the universe, the survey email asking me to rate your class arrived while I was typing that first paragraph.

    • Thanks, Steven. Yes it was a shock. I am glad that the class was good and I hope our content was useful. Guess we’ll see what the future holds, eh? Stay in touch and enjoy the fiction on this site, too. –Damon
